Finding the right ear buds is never an easy choice given the large variety of options on online webshops from different brands with different specifications. A quick search on Amazon would give you a multitude of results even when you filter by budget. Depending on your needs, you might choose one that ensures an excellent call quality through noise cancellation features or sound quality through audio optimization. Either way, you would want to spend your budget the right way!

What to look for?

The primary feature in choosing ear buds is the audio quality. After all, what is the point if you can not hear your colleagues and clients on call or enjoy your favorite music? Additionally, you would want something equipped with a proper noise cancellation mechanism to minimize disturbances from surrounding. Other bonus features include the physical durability against potential damage as well as the durability of the connection with other devices. Lastly, the battery life is an important aspect to consider since you do not want to spend a lot of time waiting for it to recharge, especially if you are an extensive user.

Our Product Recommendation

The Soundcore Liberty 4 NC from Anker is our recommended choice for ear buds. These ear buds include a number of favorable features for a very attractive price. They embed a rather superior noise cancelling system that is able to adapt to the environment in real-time with different settings such as transportation mode etc. The amplified sound quality which can be manipulated through the Soundcore app for different music genres make it a go-to for many music enthusiasts. This is alongside the possibility to tamper the Equalizer - which is responsible for balancing the different acoustics - to your liking so that you can generate the sounds you like. They are water resistant to rains and spills and enjoy a fast connection that can extend to multiple devices simultaneously. Not to forget the rather responsive touch controls. Lastly, a battery life of 50 hours with the case (10 hours without) renders it a very suitable option for heavy and frequent usage. At 70 Euros (~75 US $), we consider the Liberty 4 NC a super value-for-money deal.

Comparison with other Brands

To highlight the value of our product recommendation, we resort to our exclusive comparison where we compare the price and quality of the Soundcore ear buds with some other renowned brands. In this comparison, we have several ear buds that vary in price and timeline to showcase the value of our recommendation, not only against the top-tier expensive models but also relatively older models that are seen more budget-friendly. The comparison is summarized in the figure below where the Anker ear buds are marked in red.

In this comparison, we considered the following models, Apple AirPods Pro 2nd Generation, Sony WF-1000XM5, Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 and Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II. The first two are considered flagships of the industry. This is reflected in the higher quality ratings and also prices. The Jabra and Bose are not as new but offer considerable competition given their high quality ratings as well and slightly lower prices. Finally, the Samsung is a relatively older model that is still popular among budget shoppers. While the Anker may not be among the newest models, its various features set it at a quality rating that is equivalent to other earbuds costing three times as much.

We take the noise cancellation capability to be rather inferior compared to more renowned alternatives in the market. However, we believe that the significantly improved sound quality and adjustability alongside the extended battery life largely compensate for this.
